I can't quite remember what we did during the day. Probably took the kids to the playground while Mike worked from home a bit in the morning. I think Mike took the boys for a swim after lunch. (Swimming at Christmas...yes!!!) Oh, and in the morning, Mike made Didi's cherry pie for our dessert later. Mmmm!!! He's so amazingly talented!
We had Fina take the day off after lunch time, so we made sure we got in a little present exchange and celebration with her before she left. In addition to real gifts, we had the boys pick out little things for her and for everyone at the $2 store here. They were really excited about that!
In the afternoon, we got our Christmas Eve dinner in the oven and then headed out for our tradition of caroling. We took cookies and Christmas cards to a bunch of our neighbor friends, and rang our jingle bells while we caroled to them. We love this tradition! It feels really fun and festive, is so nice to connect with friends and neighbors, and helps us spread cheer!
After an hour or so of caroling, the timer went off and we ran back to get our roast out of the oven. Christmas Eve dinner then began! That lamb doesn't look like much. (It actually looks absolutely gross!) But, it was the yummiest lamb we've ever done. Cooked perfectly!
I had been a bit sad that our dinner would be during broad daylight since it doesn't get dark here until about 7:30. But, a little storm blew in just as dinner was starting. It actually made it a bit dark and really cosy - we loved it! We did our Christmas crackers for dinner since we had different plans the next day. Those are always a huge hit!
