Sister Weekend!

We had a really fun weekend towards the end of February when both Fo and Zeez visited. Fiona was in town for her grad school audition at Westminster Choir College - very exciting! Zeez came up to see everyone. It was a great reunion!

The boys loved time with their little cousin. The loved getting out our box of newborn toys and piling every single one in front of Annabelle. Slightly overwhelming for her, but very exciting!

They both loved holding her with varying degrees of success!

And, I think it's safe to say that the Bent Spoon outing is always the real highlight. (It's the only reason they really come ;-) )

Fo loved her baby time!

Fo had fun Thailand gifts for everyone. Toys and cute clothes for the boys. And, matchy-matchy sweaters for the girls!

Zeez was off after the weekend, but Fo had a couple extra days, during which she had her audition. We took the boys to school together for pajama day! A fun, comfy tradition! 

And, she was the first one to know that we are expecting #3 since we found out ourselves the day before she left! :-) It was fun to celebrate that together!!!

Fun President's Day Weekend

We had a great couple outings over President's Day Weekend!

The first was a quick NY trip to go to the temple. I went first while Mike took the boys to see the dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum. Then we switched off and I took the boys for pizza and Magnolia's cupcakes! :-)

On President's Day itself, we went to a fabulous family show event at the State Theater in New Brunswick. The boys LOVED it! The first was a tap show with a couple dancers walking the kids through some of the history of tap. They wrapped it up with bringing everyone onto the stage to learn a little shuffle and cramp roll! This, by the way, has inspired a complete love and obsession with tap dancing for Beau! He's been pulling out his brother's old shoes every day, often with costume, and loves doing the Rockettes' dances or his own!

The second show was a percussion show, and the boys loved it equally as much! It featured the timpanist from my choir, which was a fun connection. The boys also got to go on the stage and follow the conductor as they played their percussion instruments. Great!

Then we spent a little time (not too much...it was freezing...there's a theme here!) by the firetrucks, food trucks, and outdoor activities at the event.

Haircut time!!!

Lewis thought it was about time that he tried the haircut thing out for himself. Why should mom get all the fun?!?

After a rather trying afternoon with plenty of issues and melt downs, the boys were finally settled, listening to a book on CD in Lewis' room. I checked on them and thought I'd sneak down to cook some dinner quickly. About 10 minutes later, I heard the boys walking downstairs and then heard, "Look, Mommy! We did a haircut!"

WOW!

After a quick panic, I gathered myself, realizing that they genuinely hadn't thought they were doing anything wrong. But, we did learn a little bit about if you think you need to do something in secret, it's probably not a good idea!

Beau got a buzz cut after Daddy got home. And, he had quite the set of reactions at school and everywhere we went for the next couple weeks. We kept it all pretty positive for him so he didn't feel self-conscious. So, for the first few days, he'd run up to his friends or teachers and say, "I don't have any hair!!!"

As a side note, we've also now learned that Beau's hair grows incredibly slowly...just like his Mommy. I just gave him his first haircut since in the middle of June!
