The beginning of the summer has been jam packed with family and friends. So much so that when I looked back on my calendar to see where to begin this update, the things we did at the beginning of May literally felt like they were AGES ago!
One of the highlights of May was our Mother's Day!
Mike and the boys did an amazing job spoiling me rotten! We had beautiful flowers in the house. I got to sleep in! :-) Then, I was awoken to breakfast in bed. After that, we headed off for a Sunday morning walk by 8am. That was a treat in and of itself! Sundays on the afternoon schedule have been a bit of a trial this year - it's so hard on the boys. But, it's also just hard to feel like you've taken advantage of the time and have had a nice morning together. So, taking a nice walk together, playing at a park, talking to our moms while we went...it was so perfect!
Church was lovely. Mike and I both led the primary children in singing "Mother Dear, I Love You So" during sacrament meeting. It was our transition day...Mike's last hoorah as primary music leader, and my first day doing it! That's right...Mike has been released. They loved him so much in there that I have felt like a second class citizen! He is sorely missed. But, I also feel like I won the lottery!!! It is my favorite church calling ever, and I'm having a BLAST with it! I feel like a kid in a candy store! :-)
Back to Mother's Day!
After church, we literally just dropped by the house to change and pick up the picnic food. Then we headed over to Rosedale Park and had the most delicious picnic that Mike had put together. Divine! The kids played on the playground. Lewis made a new friend (whose name I have forgotten). They were so cute together! I hadn't really seen Lewis wrestle too much before, but he and this little boy just laughed and rolled around in the grass and played soccer, etc. It was so cute! Incidentally, wrestling is now becoming more and more the norm with Lewis and Beau. They have so much fun!
It was just an idyllic day, and I loved every minute with my angel husband and my boys!
For the second half of the month, we packed up the family for 11 days and headed over to our nieces house to babysit them while Jake and Mish took a trip to Costa Rica. It's always a treat to get to be with those girls, and the boys just loved it. Well...Lewis was in 7th heaven getting constant attention from so many people. Beau unfortunately came down with another ear infection and was rather sad and clingy for most of the time. It was hard for him to be away from his home and comfort zone when he was feeling so lousy :-( Poor guy!
During that time, I had my final choir concert of the year. It was a special one because our founding director was retiring after 33 years. It was a rather emotional concert for everyone involved. We performed the Bach B Minor and Daddy was able to be there, which was so nice. It's been years and years since he's been at one of my concerts!
I also slipped away on one of the mornings to sing at a nursing home where my friend Kristen's mom works. Kristen (who accompanied me) and I had such a blast. That is just one of happiest, loveliest things to get to do, in my book!
Dad was there for both of the weekends that we babysat, so we had some nice catch up time with him. I also sang in church the second Sunday he was there, so it was just music all the time, which makes me happy.
And, we also fit in a visit to the zoo with the girls and our boys! It was a fun little adventure and the kids had a good time.
We spent Memorial Day with Daddy - that's become almost a tradition for us! Lewis and Beau both loved the Pennington Memorial Day Parade. Lots of fire trucks and cool cars and plenty of friends from town. Beau loves to say hi and bye to people, so he quickly figured out how to wave at everyone and give them big "HI's". So precious!
Zeez and Tommy drove down and arrived early in the afternoon. It was so nice to spend time with them. In the evening, we took a picnic over to the annual outdoor Memorial Day concert in Pennington. The band was great. Our food was delicious. The weather was perfect. It was a great evening together! We wish it could have lasted longer!
We've had lots of fun play dates and park dates with friends - it's so great to be outdoors so much. Beau played with his friend Nyle, who is even more obsessed with balls than Beau is. So, they were easy to entertain!
Lewis had a very fun little birthday party for his friend Caroline. Caroline is in his class, and is also just a friend from town. She absolutely loves Lewis and talks about him non-stop. He really likes her too, but we have to admit, the obsession doesn't seem to be at the same level for him! She had a little birthday party at a dance studio and invited his whole pre-school class, as well as a number of our other friends from town. It was pirate and princess themed, and Lewis borrowed a costume from one of our friend's brothers. So cute!
Beau, who is rather obsessed with shoes, found the birthday girl's party shoes at one point and loved wearing those around. Unfortunately, once she realized, she was a bit upset and wanted them back. I suppose they did go with her outfit a little better!
Lewis has had the most wonderful pre-school this year. I can't say enough good things about it! The teachers are marvelous. The director is a true gem - just amazing. And, it is such a wonderful community to be a part of. This was their 50th anniversary this year, so the school had a big end-of-year party to celebrate. They had pony rides, a moon bounce, music, crafts, face painting - it was so fun. And, just a great chance to run around with all of the other kids from the school. Lewis also was excited to see the tile he had colored (and told Mommy what to help him color...all his idea!) as part of the big, new mural that will soon be in the gym at his school.

We were so sad to see the school year end; he's had such a nice little class. But, we've already had two park dates with the kids from his class, so hopefully we'll see them lots this summer.

Finally, the FARM is open again!!! YAY!!!
It's about my favorite thing ever. And, this year, we're biking there every week!!! :-)
The boys have been very cute and good about being strapped up in the trailer with their helmets and heading off to the farm with my by bike. It's so nice! It takes me about 20 minutes each way. I have room in the trailer for my produce on the way back. (At least for now. Once we're into winter squash, pumpkins, and potatoes in the fall, I may need to drive! Ooo...and watermelons are going to be a problem too! I wonder if I can fit that in my basket...we'll see!) But, we've loved playing at the farm, picking up our veggies, and picking a little in the fields so far. It's one of our favorite weekly activities!
