We've had a lovely summer so far!
Let me mention some of the highlights.
Unfortunately, I get a D+ for pictures at all of our excursions. I forgot my camera at half of them, and forgot to take many pictures even when I remembered the camera. So, I'll work on collecting others' photos to add to the post later!
Back in June, Norah went to her annual Hoohah. (college roommates reunion weekend) It was delightful, as always! I loved catching up with my girls. This year we stayed with Caitlin in MD and visited Annapolis for our excursion. We found both delicious crab cakes and delicious ice cream there, so the day was a resounding success!
At the end of June, we took a little jaunt down to DC to attend our friends' wedding reception - Jess and Lucie. It was so happy to see them, and fun to catch up with lots of others there.
Then, we flew out west for a couple weeks!
Our trip started miserably with a 6 hour delay in Philly and then 3 hours fighting with customer service reps while stuck in the Chicago airport. We don't recommend flying through Chicago ever to anyone! We have a bad history of getting stuck there! Lewis did love playing on the planes in the kids' area of the Philly airport though. And, when we boarded the plane for the second time, we got a fun treat. Lewis took off at a sprint towards the cockpit. The whole plane was cheering him on, so the pilot invited him in for a quick picture before we took off!
Once we finally arrived, we dove into our DC Family reunion. A whole crew of us from DC had rented a house and we spent a couple wonderful days catching up, laughing, eating amazing food, playing with the kids, and just enjoying. We loved it!(And yes...that is a tampax versus o.b. tampon test below. Look at how the o.b. (right) expands uniformly becoming a cylinder. The tampax (left) expands to become this weird rectangle. Who ever thought that made sense? That isn't comfortable at all! Plus, the o.b. wicked moisture uniformly throughout the tampon right away while the tampax did not. Hmmm...something to think about ladies!)
Once that was done, we snuck in some visits to family and friends in Utah. Always a treat to see the Woods, Mitchells, and Jacobsons!
Then we headed up to Idaho to Red Fish Lake where the whole Wasden family had a fabulous reunion to commemorate Grandma Fluff's 90th birthday. We did have to fight off a bug on the way up that kept the Mike Wasden family all lying low for a couple days. :-( Once that was done, we had a wonderful time getting to see lots of cousins and celebrate with Fluff.
After that, we all went back down to Boise where Mike and Lewis stayed for the rest of the week. Norah skipped up to McCall with Mamadoodly, Cat, and Mish for the WOW. (I think that stands for Wonderful Women of Wasden Weekend...but I'm never quite sure!) It was absolute heaven - perfect weather, swimming, massages, fabulous meals, more sweets than we now care to mention, and the best company. We all had a couple days back in Boise and a great get together with Mike's high school friends before we headed back home.
I must say that it took me a week to recover after getting home, and then a few more days to get on top of things. Then we were off again!
We just spent a lovely long weekend on Cape Cod. Norah's friend Meg from high school was getting married there and we were so excited to go. We stopped off in RI to see Louise and Tom, and then the five of us (plus Ella the dog) drove out to the Cape for the weekend. It was so fun to visit old favorite spots in Chatham and go to the beach. Auntie ZeeZee and Tom were amazingly generous and babysat Lewis on Friday night and Saturday so that Mike and I could go to the wedding festivities. And, we had a blast! It was a gorgeous wedding and we loved getting to catch up with Meg's family and with high school friends. Here's the Concord folks below in a pyramid...or an attempt! We haven't dance the night away like that in quite a long time. We were totally wiped out the next day!
Last but very not least, the 2 month long summer heat wave has been kicking our patooties! Especially Norah's since she is now...PREGNANT! :-) Yay! Feb 4th is the due date, and we are so excited! We're also excited for the first trimester to come to a close, and we're crossing fingers that the nausea will too! We'll see!
Oh, and one more very important thing that I don't think I've mentioned on our blog yet. Mike got a promotion at work! Yay!!! We're so proud of him. He's now Mr. o.b. again...but this time he's running the whole show! :-) Here's a picture of the o.b. chandelier he made that now hangs proudly in his new office. And, another picture of Lewis using an o.b. to clean out his ear. He's resourceful!
