Jake had a business trip to Singapore, and Mish used miles to tag along. We LOVED it!
Jake and Mish actually arrived in the middle of the night on a Friday, and Mike got home from the States on Saturday morning. It was perfect!!! We couldn't believe Jake and Mish's energy after such a grueling flight, and even delays. They bounced right over that jet lag and jumped into things.
Jake got in some great runs in the Botanic Gardens. Here he is with the boys after one of them. They're playing with all their new toys and goodies Auntie Mish brought for them!
We decided that Gardens by the Bay would be a good low-ish key option for a first tired day. We explored the domes and the supertrees, and the boys scooted around.
Year of the goat display at the Flower Dome!
Love the waterfall at the Cloud Forest Dome!
We went to Lau Pa Sat for dinner - a high end hawker center in the central business district. Very yummy and fun! Mmmm chili crab and pho!!!
On Monday, Jake and Mish headed into their hotel in the city for the week while Jake worked. Mish and I did a little Orchard Road tour, taking in views from the observation lounge at ION and visiting Emerald Hill. Then I scooted off to get the boys and Mish continued on for a maze of shopping.
We met Jake and Mish that night to watch the light show at Gardens by the Bay and the light/laser show at Marina Bay Sands. Both very fun!
Mish and I spent the next couple days exploring the city. We visited Little India while the boys were in school, walking around the temples and market, eating a yummy Southern Indian lunch, and meandering through Mustafa (the largest department store in the world!).
On Wednesday we took Beau to the aquarium, which he loved! It's the biggest one in the world, and it was a really fun visit!
We also took a day to explore the Arab Quarter, see the textile shops there, the beaded Peranakan shoes, and grab a Turkish lunch.
Friday we had a Sentosa day with the kids. We ate at Din Tai Fung...mmm...always amazing. Then we played on the beach and Jake and Mish visited the southern tip of Asia. All extra fun because Jake had been there 15 or so years ago. Fun to compare!
That night we took Jake and Mish to the Chocolate Bar at Marina Bay Sands. How could we resist taking them to an all you can eat cheese and chocolate bar with views from the top of MBS?!? Actually, we intended to crash the infinity pool at the top. The chocolate bar used to be located just next to the pool. Turns out they just moved it in January a couple floors down, in part to stop people sneaking into the pool after dining there. We gave our waitress very sympathetic agreement at what a problem that must have been while knowing that we were actually wearing suits under our clothes!!! Ah well! It was still a really fun night out!
We had a really fun, quieter day on Saturday. We got lots of time into chat and hang out. The boys loved swimming in the pool and eating poolside. And, we grabbed hawker fare for dinner to have Jake and Mish try a few more local favorites.
That night we headed to the Night Safari up by the zoo. It was really quite cool! It's such a popular attraction here, and I'd say it lived up!
It was so nice to go to church together on Sunday. After church, we made marzipan cupcakes, which I had been dying to have Mish try!
And, Mish even snapped a few photos on our camera for us before church. Love her!
