August 2015 - Phuket with Wasden Guys

After busy Bangkok, it was really nice to head south for the beach!

We stayed at lovely hotel by the southermost beach on Phuket...a bit away from the scene and grime there!

The pool was a big hit, especially with the water slide and high diving platform!

Should I? Shouldn't I?!?

Beau decided he WAS brave enough in the end! And, he loved it!

Scotty's moves put us all to shame!

We came here IN CASE the guys would get lucky and be able to surf. It's not always known for great conditions though, and sadly we didn't luck out this time. But they spent a great afternoon trying!

There was a beautiful temple just a stone's throw from the hotel. We love this part of traveling!

The morning breakfast buffet was always yummy and always messy!

And this is always our kids' favorite part of Thailand...the swim up bar and tropical smoothies!

Besides that, we ate plenty of yummy Thai food. Played on the beach. Got a few Thai massages. And relaxed. The guys took an island hopping trip one of the days, but we skipped out since we had been to those places before.

A really fun trip, and great time with the Wasden guys!

August 2015 - Trip to Thailand with the Wasden Guys

Papa, Ty, and Scott had requested a few days in Singapore followed by a trip somewhere a little more exotic with a possibility of surfing. Since they had already done Bali, Thailand was on the top of their request list. We decided on a couple days in Bangkok followed by a few days in Phuket.

It was an adventure to travel together! We loved getting to spend time with Papa, Ty, and Scott, and see them take everything in. And, we always love adventures with our little boys. I have to say, for the purpose of our family record, this is one trip that Mike and I do not remember quite as fondly though. It was just a tough one with our kids! Bangkok was too much for them! In hindsight, we should have gone to Chang Mai, or just spent time in the South. Live and learn!

We had a great apartment to stay in while we were in Bangkok, and that worked beautifully. We spent a bit of time together touring temples, and then mostly split up. Here we are on a river tour and then touring Wat Arun.

Ice cream was SO necessary here!

See any resemblance?!? This cutie David definitely has a Wasden head!

Our family liked seeing the Grand Palace (second time for me and Mike, first for the kids). But, it was so hot and crowded; that place has become so overcrowded compared to what it used to be! So, mostly we just managed kids who were melting down! Still, it's amazing there!

He was so into all the gold,
and so bummed he couldn't actually go inside this one!

 Childhood wonder!

I had to promise massive amounts of ice cream,
and this was the best I could get for people pretending to look happy! TOO HOT!!!!!!!

Tuk tuk time!
After that, we headed to see the Reclining Buddha. It was so incredible! A favorite of our Bangkok time, I'd say! The boys loved the scale and grandeur, and being at a slightly calmer, quieter one. And, they really loved getting to put coins in the wishing bowls.

Street food in Thailand is the BEST!!!
The next day, we took the boys to the aquarium. It was a great option for kids on a hot day in Bangkok!

Besides that, we had some great meals, not enough massages, lots of bartering and haggling, a few new custom shirts made for Mike, and a fabulous morning at the Chatuchak Market complete with incredible fresh coconut ice cream!!!
