Our trip was originally planned only to Sri Lanka. However, Mike's boss convinced us that we should tack on the Maldives as it would only add a minimal extra cost to the flight costs. Great! Wonderful idea! Flights booked.
Of course, then we looked into accommodation costs and nearly had a heart attack! We managed to find the very cheapest resort there. It was sort of white trash Euro feel there. ;-) But, same incredible water! Same incredible beach! Amazing reef with incredible snorkeling! And, the room was just fine for us. The boys absolutely loved having a beach right outside their front door, and they were happy campers the whole time! We were so happy to have visited this incredibly beautiful spot!
What is it about boats that is so awesome? Look at these happy boys on the boat transferring from the airport to our island!
The first view of our island!
Our room! It was perfect. David would nap inside while I sat and read on the porch and the boys built sand traps and castles and put on shows...all just outside our place!
Lewis loved spinning Beau up and then letting him fly! I can't believe he didn't throw up!
There were tons of these little reef sharks swimming around the island! The sharks would hunt and swim into these schools of fish (below). It was so cool to watch!
Precious baby still wasn't well when we left for the trip, so the first day or so was actually a bit rough and sleepless for me. But, he perked up a bit by the second day and was pretty happy in Sri Lanka!
It doesn't get better than boys running on the beach!
Overcome with emotion!
One morning, we caught these spotted eagle rays...a beautiful sting ray common to the Maldives. It is black with white spots, and looks like it has a sort of bottle nose dolphin body under the beautiful wings. We watched them come in from afar and play in the water in front of our beach.

Silly boys!
One of the most incredible things was the snorkeling over the beautiful coral reef, just a few feet off the edge of the island. We rented an underwater camera so that we could capture some of the memories of it. Really fun! Beau especially loved the snorkeling and was game to do it with both me and Mike!
Look at this cute Beau go at it! :-)
Lewis got in too!
The coral off the front of the island was even more spectacular itself!
SUCH a fun few days!
