October 2015 - The Rest of Kyoto

Kyoto had some stunningly beautiful spots. That combined with gorgeous warm fall weather and leaves that were just begining to turn, and it was rather dreamy. Especially compared to our Singapore drippy heat!

We visited a few lovely temple complexes that were more remote, and found some ice cream to go along with it.

Here we are heading out on the train to Nara to see the deer. It was a nice little outing away from the city. And while we may have seen deer every day of our lives in NJ without fail, it was quite the novelty at this point!

Beau was actually somewhat terrified of these very overly aggressive deer!

A few fall leaves!!!

One early evening, Mike took the boys to see a show called "Gears". It was a completely non-verbal show sort of about robots, and quite cool! They enjoyed it a lot!



I just took David for a walk while they did that, and we wandered around one of the really large markets in the city.

Here we are at the Kiyomizu-dera temple complex with one of the most well known views over Kyoto. 

I think our most favorite temple was Kinkaku-ji. Stunning! 

The temple was so impressively beautiful, and the evening light was lovely. The air was crisp and clear. And, we loved walking aroud the peaceful grounds.

The boys took it all in, but they were sort of done with temples at this point and ready for some playing and fun!

Japanese cab adventures!!!

We saw a Geisha being ushered quickly and as quietly as possible into a car one evening!

I think my most favorite part of our time in Kyoto was walking along the Philosopher's Path. It was absolutely gorgeous, especially as the autumn was just beginning.

We found a really neat artist drawing along the canal. The boys loved watching him work at his craft, and we bought a couple of his pictures to take home as souveniers.

Those are beautiful memories!

On our very last night, we snuck out to a ramen bar just next door to our flat while the boys slept. You ordered your ramen from sort of a vending machine, and then they made it and brought it to your table!

Lewis was a champ. A truck, in fact,
helping with luggage in the airport when the other two boys were so, so tired!
