We felt so lucky to be able to sneak this trip in!
Mike was given just a few weeks notice that he had a work retreat to Bali. And, it happened to be literally a few days before I was no longer allowed to fly. Done. Done, done, and done!
His retreat was at a fabulous resort in Nusa Dua on the southern peninsula of Bali. We flew out early on a Wednesday morning. Mike had work events the rest of that day and evening as well as all day and evening on Thursday. Friday morning he just had a breakfast, and then he was done.
The resort was fabulous! I had seen it written up as the top resort for families in Bali, and it definitely delivered! We felt so spoiled!!!
The beach there was very nice. But, the best part was the endless pools. There were pools that connected and wound all the way through the resort with these fun, beautiful bridges crossing over them at different places. So fun. Plus, at two different ends of the pools, they had built a little beach that went right into the pool. That was the boys' favorite!
And, to top it all off, the wonderful J&J woman who had organized the whole thing pushed to have us upgraded, since Mike was the only one with family there during the retreat. So, we were given a suite that I think may have been a similar size to our apartment! It had a dining area and a huge living room. Next door there was a master with two adjoining king size beds (which Mike and I kept for ourselves, of course, and put the boys on the bed and couch in the living room!), as well as a ginormous master bath area. It was pretty nice! Thank you Uncle Johnson!!!
The boys and I did lots and lots of swimming. They loved time at the pool-beach areas, digging in the sand, and then wading into the pool. We indulged in an amazing breakfast buffet each morning. And, we got in a bit of time on the real beach too. We had just a bit of relaxing time in the room and playing in the master bath!
On Thursday evening, the boys and I ate dinner at the restaurant just next to where J&J was doing their dinner event. That meant that when it was time for the lion dance show, we could sneak over and watch too. The boys loved that!!!

And, after Daddy finished his meetings, we got some great time in the pool and on the beach with him too! We even got to fly the pirate ship kite that Daddy's team had picked up during their scavenger hunt!
We even introduced the boys to the wonders of cheap Asian massage! Mike is rather obsessed with getting massages in Southeast Asia. It's something he brings up many times a day and plots over when and how! On our last afternoon, he had found some ladies on the beach who said they could massage me and Mike while the boys played on the beach right next to us. Well, as soon as Beau saw what was going on, he decided that he wanted a "ssage" too!!! That boy is so much like his Daddy! He loves his comforts and his snuggles! And, he loved his "ssage"! Lewis played for a bit, but then decided he didn't want to be left out either. Massages all round! ;-)
It was all really fun! We loved our beach time in Bali, and were really excited to head inland to Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali, come Saturday morning!
