Gorgeous September

This year, both of our cute little boys had a first day of school to celebrate! Lewis is at the same pre-school he attended last year. It’s just a block from our house, and we absolutely love the school and the community. His teacher is the same as last year, and he was already friends with about half of the kids in his class. So, a pretty easy transition for him!

Beau is attending a little class one morning a week for 18 month olds at another church in town. It just gives Mommy a couple kid-less hours one morning a week. (Mommy is really looking forward to this!) Beau had a hard time saying goodbye at the first class, mostly because all the other kids were already crying.  The director came up to check in with the parents who were all at a coffee together after about 15 minutes. She said everyone was happy and then asked who Beau’s mom was. I braced myself! She said that Beau was chatting up a storm and kept trying to share toys with the other kids and pat them on the arm when they were sad. SO sweet! He is such a social little guy, so we’re pretty sure he’s really going to like being in school. Plus, they feed him a snack there. Whenever I drop him off now, he starts saying, “Cracker! Cracker!” 

We had a fun Saturday visiting the Children’s Museum in New Hope and then taking a ride on the old New Hope steam engine! The boys loved being on a real train! 

Our other exciting train development for the month was receiving a very special present from Didi...the boy’s very own train station! It’s such a hit! What’s not to love about a little fort to play in that has trains all over it?!? Thank you, Didi! We love it!

We also discovered that a beautiful Saturday in September is absolutely the very best time to visit the beach! We went whale and dolphin watching in Cape May one Saturday. It was a very fun boat ride and the boys had a great time. We did have one casualty just before the boat docked. Beau was looking through the porthole and all of a sudden started saying, “Gunkey! Gunkey!” Sure enough, he had thrown his monkey overboard. Shame! We had a couple back ups at home, so all was well!

The beach at Stone Harbor was lovely. Lewis got to fly his kite and jump in the waves with Daddy. Beau was also very excited about the waves, the seagulls, and digging in the sand. 

 

After a weekend of chocolate chip cookie baking, I came downstairs one Monday morning to find Lewis had helped himself to breakfast. ;-)

I thought we ought to do a little montage of Beau the climber, aka Beau the future gymnast! Our friends can’t believe it when they see Beau climbing all over everything at the playground. He’s pretty fearless! Fences are one of his latest accomplishments. Cribs are another. (He now has a tent over the top of his crib to prevent escapes!) 

Towards the end of the month, we spent a few days in Annapolis visiting Auntie Zeezee and Uncle Tommy.  Auntie Fogo and Lekka were also visiting, so it was a sister/family get together! Annapolis is such a gorgeous town, and we had really fun time feeding the ducks at the harbor, riding the water taxi, playing on the playground, and playing with Lewis’ second cousins. We then spent the weekend out at my uncle’s farm. It was such a treat! Gorgeous setting - heaven for the kids! We played in the sandbox, swam in the pool, played on the swing set, fed the horses, ate tons of delicious food, and had a marvelous time.

The month ended with Beau’s first ER visit. Ugh! He took a bowl out of the dishwasher, ran away from me, dropped it, broke it, then reached for the pieces before me or Mike could stop him. Shame! After a couple hours, it was still bleeding so badly that we had to take him in. He was such a cutie-pie at the ER! The nurses all adored him! He waved hi to everyone and smiled, laughed, sang...it didn’t help us to be seen quickly at all. He did not come across as being in critical condition! After a few stitches and lots of songs and games on Mommy’s iphone, we made it home and to bed by about midnight. Here’s our little Beau at the ER and with his bandages the next day. 

And, you may have been expecting this post to be a Peru post! That’s up next! (After I edit down over 1000 pictures!) I had to catch up on September before going on to our big trip! Here's a few final cute shots from the month. 

I have to comment here that this is one of the last shots of Beau sucking his thumb. I'm in mourning! After having his finger stitched up and bandaged for 2 weeks, he forgot how to suck his thumb. No more cute self soothing for this little boy! It's probably for the best for his teeth (and perhaps for our pocketbook too!), but I did love my little thumb suckey!!!
